Services in church will start again from July 12th (10.30). There will be some changes to the way we do things and social distancing will apply.
INFORMATION ABOUT ST JOHN’S
Along with all other churches within the Church of England our services are now suspended and our building closed for public worship until further notice. (St John’s is now open for private prayer on Mondays (10-12) and Thursdays (2-4).
Although we are scattered to our own homes worship and prayer continue.
Members of the congregation are being sent (via email or a booklet) a short service of Morning prayer which we will all pray together every Sunday morning at 10.30 in our own homes. These services are being streamed and you will find them on our Facbook page. You will find the words for the latest service on this website under ‘Church without a building’.
If you would like to be added to our distribution list for this service please contact the vicar on 01928 573798 or email@example.com.
Members of the congregation are also being supplied with other material for prayer and study. Again if you would like to go on our mailing list for this please contact the vicar who can also supply Sunday school lessons for families. Lay preacher Terry Hawes is writing a monthly reflection which you can find under ‘A layman’s progress’ and Pastoral Worker Marney Hearn is contributing a daily prayer or thought which you will find under ‘Church without a building’.
We might be much more on our own than we are used to, but we are not truly alone knowing that God is with us and that we join our prayers with those of millions of other people not only in this country but throughout the world.
A prayer about the Coronavirus outbreak (from the Church of England’s website, further prayers can be found there)
Keep us, good Lord,
under the shadow of your mercy
in this time of uncertainty and distress.
Sustain and support the anxious and fearful,
and lift up all who are brought low;
that we may rejoice in your comfort
knowing that nothing can separate us from your love
in Christ Jesus our Lord.
